About Me
Hola! Welcome to my webpage! My name is Preston Slate, I am from Spartanburg South Carolina. I have lived in Spartanburg all of my life, and I graduated from James F. Byrnes High School in 2019. I am Senior Spanish International Health Major at Clemson University with the expectation of graduating in the Spring of 2023.
Graduating with a degree in Spanish and International Health, I have become passionate about understanding global and community health challenges that affect population in my own country as well as those abroad. Applying my knowledge and experience of community development, cultural competency, and healthcare systems, I hope to use these skills one day as a prospective physician to create an equitable healthcare system that reaches even the most remote communities across the globe.
I have studied abroad in the country of Argentina, as well as worked first hand in a health professional setting within this country. After graduation, I will be attending the School of Physical Therapy of the Medical University of South Carolina. I have completed coursework in various subjects such as humanities, Spanish, biology, and health science. Through many of these courses I have learned about the healthcare and cultural disparities and barriers that the United States and the rest of the world deal with. Also, the Spanish courses have helped me to better develop my Spanish speaking and writing skills.

Clemson has given me the opportunity to pursue my professional interests with practical solutions, providing a solid foundation for my career. I have had experience in many areas surrounding health which has allowed me to strenghthen my passion and understanding of a career in Physical Therapy. Clemson has made me a strong candidate in the professional world as a physical therapist and global health professional; this eDossier is a testimony to that!
